House of Hadassah
House of Hadassah is the first rescue initiative of the Camp David programme – a Christian-based youth outreach initiative dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, educating, and economically empowering vulnerable young people in Nakuru, Kenya.
The project provides a safe home where young adults who have aged out of existing care arrangements are equipped for independent living. Five young ladies have moved in to take up the initial places. Alongside meeting their basic practical needs, house parents mentor, support, and help facilitate education for participants until they become independent or alternative safe arrangements are made.
Rooted in the Christian values of compassion, transformation and dignity, Camp David seeks to restore hope and build pathways for holistic development. The initiative is a response to the growing crisis facing Kenyan youth: rising addiction, exploitation, unemployment, school dropout, and limited access to mental health and spiritual support. Across the country many young people face:
- Drug and substance abuse
- Poverty and unemployment
- Early pregnancies and exploitation
- School dropout and limited learning opportunities
- Lack of mentorship, spiritual grounding, and life skills
- Family instability and weak community support
These challenges leave many vulnerable to hopelessness, crime, and generational poverty. Yet they also reveal an opportunity: with the right guidance, community, and faith-centred support, young people can rise above these obstacles and build purposeful, resilient lives. House of Hadassah is helping to ignite that transformation — empowering youth with the tools, values, and support they need to thrive.

Project Roadmap
A monthly budget of €850 is all it takes to provide these young adults a safe and stable environment in which they can flourish. This household budget covers the accommodation rent, food, water, electricity, heating and internet access. While one-time donations have a large impact, monthly sponsors form the stable foundation upon which these girls can lean. Even a small regular contribution goes a long way to supporting the ongoing stability of the house.

EDUCATION
While House of Hadassah's safe housing is now largely funded, education remains an area where support is still needed. Each of the young women in the programme is eager to continue her studies, but in Kenya, completing high school does not automatically translate to university or college enrolment. Young adults often face a precarious waiting period where financial constraints determine their next step — and without tuition and basic support, many are pushed toward early marriage or poorly paid labour, paths that curtail potential and perpetuate cycles of poverty and exploitation.
Why support is important now
Further education gives these young women practical, employable skills, industry-relevant training, and recognised credentials — helping them secure stable, sustainable employment and build the foundation for their own future initiatives.

Getting Involved
Many people feel moved by stories like these, but sympathy alone changes little if it goes no further than a feeling. As Scripture reminds us, “let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18). We welcome anyone who wants to turn that concern into action — whether through prayer, mentorship, sponsorship, or a one-off gift. It doesn't take a grand gesture: even small, consistent support can be the difference between a young person staying on a path toward stability or being pushed back into hardship. Every contribution, however modest, is a tangible expression of care that these young women can feel and build on.

On your standing order you may specify ‘House of Hadassah’ or, if you want to make it a general gift then state ‘general gift’. In the event that regular donations earmarked for House of Hadassah exceed the required amount, the surplus will be set aside for other mercy-oriented initiatives in the area (most likely Camp David Project 2 – ‘House of David’ for boys).
