Eunice grew up on the edge of Nakuru’s largest dumpsite, where makeshift homes shelter families surviving day by day. Her parents separated when she was young, leaving the family in a precarious position. Her mother turned to casual labor to keep Eunice in elementary school, but as the burden became overwhelming, she moved to Nairobi in search of work and left Eunice in her grandmother’s care. To sustain the household, her grandmother began selling recyclable materials collected from the dumpsite.

What motivated me to do IT is that the globe is currently growing and diversifying more so in technology, which means it creates more job opportunities for me, and moreover, I can also create my own job without relying on other employers by inventing new apps. Moreover, it is my desire to have my own IT company and create job opportunities for young people in our community.

Raised by her grandmother, whose advanced age and poor health have limited the household’s income and stability. Completed primary and secondary education with support from a children’s home and community well-wishers. Her academic progress reflects consistent effort, discipline, and maturity. Teachers and mentors have recognised her curiosity, articulate expression, and commitment to ethical storytelling—traits that align naturally with the demands of journalism.

My love for journalism blossomed during my high school years, where I thrived in the media club and embraced every opportunity to write and report. Journalism is not just a career for me; it’s a calling. I dream of being at the forefront, connecting people with global trends and stories that transcend borders.

Faith lost both parents during childhood. Though her uncle took her in, the household had limited resources due to multiple dependents. Determined to continue learning, Faith balanced basic schooling with informal work to meet daily needs. During a period when she worked as a housemaid, the local area chief noticed her absence from school and intervened, connecting a local pastor who, in turn, helped secure support from a Nakuru-based children’s home. This support enabled Faith to complete secondary education.

My passion for business administration stems from a desire to become a successful entrepreneur, enabling me to drive economic growth and create meaningful job opportunities that empower individuals and uplift communities.

Raised by her elderly and ailing grandmother from a young age. After completing primary school, her grandmother’s ill health and limited means made it impossible to fund secondary education. Mitchel’s mother, also unwell, was too weak to work and sadly passed away while Mitchel was in Form Two. In search of stability, Mitchel moved to live with an uncle, where she experienced abuse and was later rejected as he severed ties. Her turning point came through the kindness of a Good Samaritan who connected her to a children’s home in Nakuru. There, she received the care, safety, and support needed to continue her education through high school. Despite these challenges, her passion for hairdressing has remained steady and strong.

My motivation for pursuing cosmetology is my passion for beauty and creativity. I aspire to acquire professional skills that will empower me to establish a successful career and achieve self-sufficiency. Additionally, I aim to utilise my expertise to enhance others’ confidence and share the knowledge I have gained with those around me.

At a young age, her parents separated, and she remained under the care of her father. Later, her father remarried, and Lilian had to adjust to life in a blended family. This transition was difficult. She faced mistreatment from her stepmother, and since her father was living separately and unaware of what she was going through, her concerns were not heard. Despite these challenges, Lilian remained focused on her education and performed well in primary school. However, after completing primary education, she faced a major setback when her stepmother convinced her father not to enrol her in high school. Instead of giving up, Lilian sought help from a trusted pastor. The pastor recognised her determination and potential and helped her secure a place in a children’s home that supports vulnerable and marginalised young people. The home supported her through high school, giving her a second chance to continue her education. This experience strengthened her belief that with support, lives can change.

My motivation for becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) comes from my desire to care for people and make a positive difference in their lives. I enjoy helping those who are sick, elderly or unable to care for themselves. I believe every patient deserves kindness, respect and compassionate care. This career also inspires me because it allows me to gain more skills and grow professionally in the field of work.
